RAAF Amberley Base

InfraBuild Construction Solutions played a key role in saving time for the heavily reinforced 200 mm thick concrete raft slab of the 6 Squadron A.M.E.N.S. workshop at the RAAF’s Amberley base in Brisbane.   InfraBuild Construction Solutions recommended Bovis Lend Lease use BAMTEC® for the project to improve speed of placement, reduce labour and the number of trades onsite. BAMTEC® is fabricated under factory conditions- eliminates placement errors, ensuring construction quality is optimised and reducing the requirement for on-site inspections.   At RAAF Amberley, the slab for the workshop was 1230 m2, broken into four pour areas ranging in size from 220 m2 to 520 m2. By adopting the BAMTEC® solution Bovis Lend Lease substantially reduced steel placement times. For example,19 BAMTEC® carpets, totaling around 8.5 tonne of reinforcing, were placed by four men in just 100 minutes. This equates to around 9 – 10 tonne per man, per day, or approximately 30 tonne per day with equivalent resources on a similar project.
