Galvanized Manufacturing Wire

Galvanized Manufacturing Wire

Overview

Galvanized Manufacturing Wire

InfraBuild Wire's Galvanized Wire is manufactured to comply with AS/NZS 4534 – Zinc and zinc/ aluminium-alloy Coatings on Steel Wire.

The metallic zinc coatings applied by the galvanizing process are an effective way of combating corrosion in steel. Galvanized wire for general manufacturing purposes is available in a Standard Galvanized coating (Class W02) and Heavy Galvanized coating (Class W10). Intermediate Galvanized (Class W05) and Ultra Heavy Galvanized (Class W25) & LifeMax® coatings are also available upon enquiry.

Standard Galvanized coatings are typically smoother, however less corrosion resistant than Heavy Galvanized coatings and are often used in general wire working applications. Some typical end uses include cages, bucket handles, coat hangers and baskets.

Heavy Galvanized coatings are used in conditions where atmospheric corrosion is severe. End uses include crop support wires where chemicals are used, pool fencing or chain mesh in coastal areas.

LifeMax® wires are available in a wide range of sizes. LifeMax® is a zinc/aluminium alloy coating that offers improved corrosion performance over conventional galvanized wires. It also has excellent coating ductility and weldability – ideal for woven or welded meshes.

Tensile Strength (MPa)

The tensile strength is defined as the maximum load achieved in the tensile test, divided by the cross-sectional area of the wire test piece. Galvanized Manufacturing Wire is produced using soft, medium and hard grade wires.

GradeTensile Strength
galvanized - Soft Quality380/550
Galvanized - Medium Quality500/625
Galvanized - Hard Quality625/850

Steel chemistry

InfraBuild Wire uses a combination of steel grades and heat treatment processes to manufacture soft, medium and hard tensile grades.
