Project Scope:
Perth Airport plays a critical role as a fly-in fly-out transport hub for workers travelling to Western Australia’s regional mining operations. The type of passengers using the airport means that passenger movements are concentrated around peak periods, placing demand on infrastructure during confined departure windows.
Perth Airport's proposed new runway will allow it to meet projected growth in demand and help prevent costly delays to both airlines and resource companies.
A Major Development Plan for the new runway project currently needs approval by the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, with that approval expected shortly. It's estimated that 744 full-time jobs will be created during construction.
Primary contractor Aurecon has provided core building engineering services to Perth Airport for over 10 years and was involved in the initial design phase for the new runway and associated taxiways and apron.
