A powerful finish to our 2025 CEO Innovation Series: Francisco’s conversation with Davina Rooney, CEO of the Green Building Council of Australia.

15 December 2025

We wrapped up this year’s CEO Innovation Series with an important conversation about the future of sustainable construction and the role industry collaboration plays in accelerating change.

The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has been a driving force in transforming the built environment for more than two decades, representing 650+ members across development, finance, engineering, manufacturing, government and education. Their Green Star rating system has shaped how Australia designs, builds and operates more sustainable buildings, communities and precincts.

InfraBuild has been a proud GBCA member for 15 years, and our partnership continues to push us to innovate, improve and stay ahead of what our customers need as sustainability expectations grow. From contributing to technical working groups, to presenting at events and shaping the evolution of Green Star tools, our collaboration ensures our products, including our GECA-certified reinforcing range and SENSE600®  lower-embodied-carbon steel, are aligned to the industry’s most trusted sustainability frameworks.

During the discussion, Davina and Francisco explored:
• how independent certifications like GECA, SSA and EPDs support responsible product selection
• why early collaboration across design, engineering and procurement is critical for achieving strong Green Star outcomes
• the major opportunities ahead in low-embodied-carbon materials, circularity and renewable energy
• how manufacturers like InfraBuild can help shift the market by innovating, improving transparency and supporting customers to make confident, sustainable choices.

A huge thank-you to Davina and the GBCA team for their leadership and partnership. As we look to 2026, we are committed to supporting Australia’s transition to a lower-carbon future through responsible products, material efficiency and ongoing innovation.
