Earlier this month was World Environment Day and for us, we’re serious about doing what we can to minimise our impact on the environment.
At InfraBuild, we recycle around 1.4 million tonnes of scrap metal a year ensuring it does not make its way into landfill. We use this as feed for our electric arc furnaces so we can produce new steel products, such as our innovative SENSE 600® reinforcing steel made from 100% recycled scrap steel that delivers up to a 39% lower embodied carbon construction solution than our 500N reinforcing steel.
We have recently updated our reinforcing bar Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to include our SENSE 600® product range.
Our EPDs, published by EPD Australasia, are independently verified, providing certified transparency around the environmental performance of our products. This not only supports the sustainable application of our products but also delivers immense value to our customers and the construction industry.
Another way we are doing our bit for a more sustainable world is through our product traceability. In today’s complex supply chains, traceability is more important than ever. By capturing, storing, and transmitting essential data, we enable our customers to make informed decisions about product properties, origins, and sustainability.
Supported by detailed data, our traceability systems ensure a seamless information flow, making product development smoother and building strong, data-driven relationships with our customers. This video explains how our traceability system works and the benefits it brings.
Finally, the safety of our people is paramount. To bring to life why safety is important in all we do, we have recently been producing videos with our employees talking about safety. This month we shared the story of one of our GFG Alliance colleagues who experienced a devastating workplace injury that resulted in the loss of part of his leg. His story is a powerful reminder of the ripple effects such incidents can have on an individual’s life, work, and family. It is why we believe one injury is too many and why we are serious about safety.
Thank you for your continued support. Together, we are making significant strides towards a safer, more sustainable, and innovative future.
All the best and stay safe,
Francisco Irazusta
