Celebrating NAIDOC Week: Honouring Culture and Community

12 July 2024

From the 7th to the 14th of July, we celebrated NAIDOC Week, a time to honour the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme, ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud!’, resonated deeply with our commitment to recognising and celebrating the contributions of First Nations peoples.

Our commitment through the Reconciliation Action Plan

InfraBuild is dedicated to fostering greater respect and understanding through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

We are building on the foundations and relationships we have established with First Nations Peoples, working to increase Indigenous employment across our business, and contributing to the broader goal of reconciliation. Our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan is a testament to this commitment.

Learn more about our RAP here: InfraBuild RAP.

Discover Indigenous Country with our branch locator

In an effort to further recognise and celebrate Indigenous heritage, our branch locator now includes Indigenous country names. This feature allows everyone to discover the traditional custodians of the land they are on.

Visit our Branch Locator to find your nearest branch and see the Indigenous country name.

Additionally, you can explore the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Map of Indigenous Australia to learn more about the rich cultural heritage of Australia’s First Nations people:

Highlights from our NAIDOC Week events

NAIDOC Week was filled with fantastic events across our business. Our team came together to honour and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Australia’s First Nations people with cooking demonstrations, native ingredient-inspired morning teas and community gatherings.

We were privileged to be joined by chef Nornie Bero, who is from the Komet Tribe of the Meriam People on Mer Island in the Torres Strait. Nornie hosted a webinar cooking demonstration from her kitchen celebrating First Nations food, culture and connection to land.

We are proud to be part of a community that values and celebrates the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this NAIDOC Week truly special.

Let’s keep the fire burning, Blak, Loud, and Proud!
