This paper examines how 600 MPa prefabricated column cages can reduce both material use and embodied carbon compared to traditional 500 MPa bar installation on site. By using higher strength steel, less material is required to achieve the same structural capacity, while prefabrication improves consistency, reduces waste and streamlines construction.
