Evaluation of Existing Crack Width Prediction Models for RC Panels with HSS Transverse Reinforcement (Sep 2025)
13 July 2026
Serviceability requirements can influence the adoption of higher strength steel.
This research evaluates existing crack width prediction models for reinforced concrete panels using high strength steel. It shows that current models can overestimate crack widths, which may limit the use of more efficient materials.
By improving prediction accuracy, the study supports broader adoption of 600 MPa steel, enabling reduced material use and lower embodied carbon in reinforced concrete design.
