Vik Bansal

CEO and Executive Director

Vik Bansal is a seasoned industrial leader with a passion for pursuing sustainable solutions and a demonstrable history of creating value for stakeholders.

With more than 30 years’ experience in CEO and senior leadership roles at complex, industrial publicly listed organisations, Vik has a proven track record of delivering strong growth for all stakeholders. He is known for his ability to lead businesses through significant growth, transition and improvement initiatives to transform performance and boost innovation.

Vik has extensive global experience, having lived and worked in four continents while managing complex, publicly listed industrial businesses with teams and assets across multiple countries. He is passionate about developing people, supporting leaders, and building talent pipelines to underpin longterm business success. His strategic leadership capabilities, coupled with a tireless commitment to continuous improvement and process refinement, make him an exceptional leader for the steel industry.

Vik has invaluable experience as an Executive and Non-Executive Director across commercial, industrial and not-for-profit boards. He has dedicated countless hours to volunteering as a Board Member for organisations like the National Waste & Recycling Industry Council, Waste Management & Resource Recovery and Disability Services Australia.

Until recently, Vik was Group CEO & MD of Cleanaway waste management (ASX:CWY) since August 2015. Vik is also Chairman of LGI Pty Ltd, a clean energy company based in Brisbane. He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Engineers Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

A self-described voracious reader in his spare time, Vik is a sports fan, enjoys playing golf and watching cricket. He is an Electrical Engineer, has an MBA and has completed AMP from INSEAD.

Sanjeev Gupta

Executive Chairman, GFG Alliance

Sanjeev Gupta is the Executive Chairman of GFG Alliance, which encompasses a range of global businesses owned by his family. Born into a family of industrialists in Punjab, India, Sanjeev was educated in the UK and graduated with an MA in Economics and Management from the University of Cambridge. He founded Liberty House Group in 1992, while still an undergraduate, as a global commodities trader, growing rapidly across different geographies for over two decades.

In 2015 Sanjeev started his industrial journey buying and restarting his first steel mill in the UK. Since then he has built an international reputation as an ambitious and visionary industrialist acquiring and building major assets in metals, engineering, mining, and renewable energy spread across the world. Sanjeev lives with his wife, Nicola, and their three young children in London.

Ray Horsburgh

Ray Horsburgh, AM

Board Member, InfraBuild

Ray is an Australian businessman with vast experience in the steel industry.

Ray served as the CEO of Smorgon Steel Group and in various director roles within Australia, including as Chairman of three companies listed on the ASX.

Ray was awarded an Order of Australia for his service to the steel industry and service to disadvantaged youth. Ray was appointed to the LIBERTY Steel Group board in April 2020 as an independent non-executive director and remains an independent non-executive director of InfraBuild.

Michael Morley

A corporate and M&A lawyer, Michael has most recently served as Senior Vice-President in global mining and metals processing company Nyrstar and GFG Alliance’s Development Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Australia.

Michael was at Nyrstar for a decade, where he was responsible for operations employing around 3,000 people at seven sites in Europe, USA and Australia, and led the US$500m flagship project to completely revitalise the ageing Port Pirie lead smelter in South Australia.

Daksesh Patel

Board Member, InfraBuild

Daksesh Patel (Dak) is a respected businessman, leader and entrepreneur with extensive experience in the Australian steel industry. Dak was the InfraBuild CEO from October 2019 to July 2021, delivering a strong performance turnaround during a global pandemic. In this role he set the foundations for future growth and oversaw a planned leadership transition to incoming CEO Vik Bansal.

Dak has held senior leadership roles in privately-held businesses operating throughout the Oceania region. These businesses own and operate diversified portfolios in manufacturing, distribution and building products, including the steel industry, and collectively employ over 2000 people.

Dak became Chairman of Energy Fiji limited in 2016, and oversaw its transition from a government owned statutory body into a newly corporatised entity in 2018. From 2019 to current, under Dak’s leadership, EFL achieved partial divestment with an aim to eventually list on the local stock exchange positioned as one of the few utilities in the region achieving a sustainable level of return on assets. Determined to drive a sustainable future, Dak is a key supporter of EFL’s commitment to the cultivation of clean, renewable sources of energy.

Deepak Sogani

Deepak Sogani

Board Member, InfraBuild

Deepak is a seasoned global professional with experience across multiple industries including industrial businesses, technology, and financial services. Deepak has a track record for successful restructuring and refinancing situations during major roles in the metals industry, serving as the CFO for the listed steel producer Jindal Steel and Power Limited and, most recently, as Managing Director for Metals & Mining at Essar Capital Services.

Iain is an experienced business leader with a career spanning over 30 years in financial services including fifteen years serving on boards dealing with a range of governance issues for growth companies and those in more challenged circumstances.
