InfraBuild proudly celebrates 30 successful years of recycling at Minto

30 July 2021

When brothers Greg and Craig Cook expanded their scrap metal business in 1990, little did they know it would become a mainstay of the local community.

Launched as Allmac (All MACarther areas) Metals, the thriving business became part of the InfraBuild family in 1998.

With 100 years of continuous operation, InfraBuild is Australia’s largest vertically integrated steel manufacturer – providing an unmatched competitive advantage in recycling, manufacturing and distribution of steel products for the building, construction, rural and mining sectors. Annually, our recycling business provides around 1.4 million tonnes of recycled metals into our steelmaking operations – making a significant contribution to our journey towards making sustainable steel for nation-building projects and reducing landfill waste.

The Minto InfraBuild Recycling site offers services to the public, householders, industrial businesses and other scrap metal dealers. As part of a leading national recycling network, it offers the advantage of competitive pricing on all metals and contributes to overall service capabilities nationally.

Greg Cook, who now leads InfraBuild Recycling’s NSW Trading team, has been in the scrap metal industry for 45 years.

“We are still trading strong and are one of the industry leaders providing exceptional scrap metal services in the region,” he said.

“Being part of the community is the key to a strong business. The support we have relied upon has come from the locals.

“Some of our original customers are still coming in today. We have had a lot of fun and developed great friendships over the years.”

Minto is one of 21 InfraBuild branded recycling facilities, providing metal recycling solutions to householders, local government, mining, demolition, industrials, automotive and waste companies. InfraBuild also has a large scrap metal dealer and transport network that we partner with to provide local recycling solutions across the country.

InfraBuild Recycling General Manager, Chris Morgan, said the business had been in the community for more than 30 years – employing locals and contributing significantly to the local community and economy.

“We’ve been in the area for more than 30 years and intend to be here for much longer as the favoured scrap metal service provider to generators of scrap metals,” he said.

“Minto is an important part of our feeder yard network and provides great access to the public, tradies and commercial businesses to recycle their metals in South West Sydney and the Illawarra.

“The experience of our operators and our trading team sets us apart from others – truly offering industry best metal recycling solutions to all.”
