Our CEO Dak Patel Discusses InfraBuild’s Commitment to Low Embodied Carbon at GBCA’s TRANSFORM Conference

11 April 2023

Last month, the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) held its TRANSFORM conference, which focused on the key themes of low carbon materials, net zero buildings, electrification and circularity. As part of the conference, GBCA CEO Davina Rooney interviewed our Interim CEO and Managing Director, Dak Patel, about InfraBuild’s commitment to reducing embodied carbon in the building industry.

During the interview, Dak discussed our ambition of net zero by 2030 and the progress towards this goal. He emphasised the importance of customer expectations in driving innovation towards low embodied carbon solutions, and highlighted our newest products being developed – a high-strength steel with a low carbon footprint.

Dak also highlighted InfraBuild’s focus on sustainability and circularity, referring to our use of recycled scrap metal in electric arc furnaces to produce sustainable steel. He stressed that change is fundamental to the journey towards sustainability.

David Bell from our Sustainability, Trade and Innovation Team also featured at the event, delivering a presentation on our recently released 2022 Sustainability Report and taking a deeper dive into what we are doing to support our customers’ and the broader industry’s sustainability objectives.
