InfraBuild recently welcomed Standards Australia CEO Rod Balding and members of his leadership team to its Western Sydney operations, reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthening Australian manufacturing and construction.
The visit included tours of InfraBuild’s facilities at Rooty Hill and St Marys, where the group saw firsthand how recycled scrap is transformed into reinforcing steel for projects across the country.
More than a site tour, the visit created space for open and practical discussions about how industry and standards bodies can work together to support the next phase of construction in Australia.
A key focus was how innovation and standards can align to support InfraBuild’s strategy to transform the construction industry. This includes increasing the use of SENSE 600® reinforcing steel, helping customers achieve the same performance with less material and supporting lower embodied carbon outcomes.
InfraBuild CEO Francisco Irazusta said partnerships like this are critical to delivering long term change.
“Strong partnerships with organisations like Standards Australia help ensure the industry continues to evolve in a way that is safe, practical and forward looking,” he said.
“Our strategy is focused on improving construction productivity and supporting lower embodied carbon outcomes. That requires close collaboration across the value chain, including how standards continue to support new technologies like SENSE 600®.”
Standards Australia CEO Rod Balding noted the importance of collaboration in ensuring standards evolve alongside industry needs.
“Learning from innovative companies like InfraBuild gives us valuable insight into how the industry is changing on the ground. That understanding helps ensure standards not only keep pace with innovation, but also provide a strong foundation for safety, performance and confidence as new technologies and approaches are adopted across the sector.”
The visit also explored the growing importance of traceability and verification across the steel supply chain, and how data and standards can work together to build confidence in product performance and sustainability claims.
By bringing together operational insight and standards expertise, the visit reinforced a shared focus on continuous improvement and a more productive, lower embodied carbon construction sector.
InfraBuild looks forward to continuing its partnership with Standards Australia and working together to support the future of Australian steel and construction.
