Celebrating Australian Made steel and a proud manufacturing history
20 May 2026
InfraBuild recently took part in Australian Made Week 2026, celebrating the people, products and industries helping build Australia’s future with locally made capability.
As part of the campaign, InfraBuild shared its connection to one of the country’s most iconic venues, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, highlighting how Australian-made steel continues to support the places and infrastructure Australians know and love.
InfraBuild has been manufacturing steel in Australia for more than 100 years and today remains one of the country’s only domestic steel manufacturers. With more than 4,500 employees across Australia and the only steel manufacturing site in Victoria, the business continues to play an important role in supporting local jobs, manufacturing capability and Australian infrastructure.
The campaign focused on InfraBuild’s long-standing connection to the MCG, including steel supplied for the North and South Grandstands built for the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, the Northern Stand redevelopment, the MCG cages, and most recently the prefabricated reinforcing steel used in the venue’s goal posts through ARC, a brand of InfraBuild.
The goal posts are a practical example of Australian manufacturing in action. Through ARC, InfraBuild prefabricated reinforcing steel made to Australian Standards, manufactured and fabricated locally in Victoria.
InfraBuild CEO Francisco Irazusta said Australian manufacturing continues to play a critical role in building a strong and resilient nation.
“The MCG, a venue that carries our steel in its grandstands and goal posts, is a powerful reminder of what Australian manufacturing means. The materials that built this ground were made right here, by Australian workers, and that legacy continues today.”
Australian Made Week is a chance to recognise the manufacturers, workers and industries helping shape Australia’s future. For InfraBuild, it is also an opportunity to celebrate a proud history of Australian-made steel products and the role local manufacturing continues to play in supporting communities, jobs and major projects across the country.
