InfraBuild is proud to be a part of the team which has enabled the reopening of a critical transport link in Western Australia’s far north less than a year after it was destroyed by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie.
The weather system caused WA’s worst flood on record which caused irreparable damage to the Fitzroy River Bridge and surrounding access roads, isolating local Indigenous communities and businesses.
In mid April, InfraBuild began manufacturing pile cages in its Berkshire Road Forrestfield facility. The cages were delivered the following month.
InfraBuild Steel and Tube in Bibra Lake managed the supply of structural steel from Port Kembla to Civmec in Henderson to be manufactured into main beams.
The joint effort by the Fitzroy Bridge Alliance and Main Roads Western Australia has enabled a new bridge that is around six times as strong and almost 100 metres longer.
The bridge has now opened to traffic, six months ahead of schedule.
