Infrastructure leaders see lower emissions steel in action at Sydney Steel Mill

4 September 2025

Senior leaders from Infrastructure Australia, Infrastructure NSW and the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council visited InfraBuild’s Sydney Steel Mill last month to see how we are helping deliver more sustainable outcomes for Australia’s infrastructure projects.

The tour provided a first-hand look at how InfraBuild makes lower emissions steel from recycled scrap and showcased our progress towards decarbonisation. Guests also learned about SENSE 600®, our high-strength, lower embodied carbon reinforcing steel, and its potential to support infrastructure projects across the country.

These organisations provide independent evidence based advice to the Australian and State governments on infrastructure planning, policy and priorities to benefit all Australians.

“It is important for decision-makers to see what is possible today,” said Francisco Irazusta, CEO and Executive Director at InfraBuild. “Lower embodied carbon steel solutions like SENSE 600® are ready now to help meet Australia’s infrastructure and climate targets.”

The visit highlighted InfraBuild’s role as a trusted partner in delivering the steel Australia needs with a lower impact on the planet.
