Sports Day with Steve Waugh at Laverton Steel Mill

The Laverton Steel Mill came alive on last month for a big Sports Day celebration, with cricket legend Steve Waugh joining employees and their families for a day of fun, food and friendly competition.

The main event was the cricket challenge, where plenty lined up to bowl to Steve. Matt Kennedy took out the top prize of the day, a brand-new TV, after bowling him out with a fast and accurate delivery that hit the stumps.

There was plenty of talent on display across the other competitions too. One of the kids in attendance landed a basketball shot from 22.4 metres to win the long shot contest. Another took out the handball comp with an impressive throw of 11.8 metres.

With perfect weather, face painting, balloon art, great food and a relaxed atmosphere, it was a great day for everyone who came along.
