Kwinana Railway Extension

InfraBuild Reinforcing demonstrated the effectiveness of Prefabrication on the Kwinana Railway Extension Project. The project, which involved the construction of four railway underpasses using the TechSpan Arches, was built by Thiess Contractors. Working on behalf of precast concrete manufacturer, Geocrete, InfraBuild Construction Solutions prefabricated 600 11 m long x 2 m wide curved reinforcing cages for precast concrete TechSpan.

Geocrete opted for InfraBuild Reinforcing prefabricated solution because of the complexity of the steel fixing involved and to help them meet the tight construction schedule. Because prefabrication could take place under factory conditions using a specially designed jig, InfraBuild Reinforcing was able to accurately prefabricate the complex curved reinforcing cages at the rate of about six per day. Each assembly incorporated 1.3 tonnes of reinforcing and were handled by a special lifting binforcing race.
