Meet Ryan Paillis: Driving Recycling Innovation in Queensland

As State Manager for InfraBuild Recycling Queensland, Ryan Paillis knows the recycling landscape better than most.

“Queensland is the most competitive scrap market in Australia,” Ryan said. “We have five metal fragmentisers within a 45-minute radius, so it is a unique challenge. How we secure intake as part of our business is an ever-changing model, and we are always looking at how we can do it better.”

That constant innovation keeps the recycling network strong, helping InfraBuild produce quality products for both domestic and export markets.

“When our mills do not need that material, we still make a sellable product that is quality for export. It is good for the planet, it is good for society, and it allows everyday people to earn a living,” he said.

Ryan believes scrap metal plays a vital role in both the economy and the community.

“Scrap metal is a real salt-of-the-earth trade. We pay good money for good material, and that creates opportunity for people. Scrap is a critical part of the Australian economy.”
