InfraBuild’s SENSE 600® has won the NSW State Award in the Concrete in Technology and Innovation category at the Concrete Institute of Australia’s Award for Excellence. This award recognises the product’s role in improving construction practices and sustainability.
Next Stop: National Recognition
On Wednesday, 16 July 2025, Anthony Ng and Amir Hassanieh from our team accepted the award on behalf of InfraBuild at the Awards Breakfast. SENSE 600® will now represent NSW at the National Awards, with winners announced at the Gala Dinner during Concrete 2025 in Adelaide on 9 September 2025.
What the Judges Said
The judges highlighted the product’s positive impact on both engineering and the environment. Here’s what they had to say:
- Innovation and Sustainability: “A great example of engineering that benefits the environment while improving how concrete is built and used, leading to better quality, safety, and durability.”
- Architectural and Environmental Excellence: “Improves the structure of concrete and helps make buildings more sustainable.”
- Reinforcement Advancements: “A valuable addition to the range of reinforcement options, helping make reinforced concrete more sustainable.”
Designed for a More Sustainable Future
SENSE 600® uses 39% less embodied carbon compared to traditional 500 MPa reinforcing bars. It was created to help the construction industry reduce its carbon footprint. But this can only happen if more people in the industry start using SENSE 600® instead of the traditional bars. Early adopters are key to helping others see the benefits and push for wider use of the product.
We were happy to have several of these early adopters from the construction industry with us at the event. They are helping lead the change toward more sustainable building practices.
Building on Success
InfraBuild is excited about the future of SENSE 600® and how it will continue to improve the construction industry by creating more sustainable buildings.
Stay tuned as SENSE 600® heads to the National Concrete Awards in September for the next step in its journey to becoming the top choice for sustainable concrete.
