TRANSFORM 2021

19 March 2021

InfraBuild has again been a major sponsor for the GBCA TRANSFORM Conference this year. Now in its third year, TRANSFORM is the flagship event on sustainability in the built environment for the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).

Streamed live over two days from 17-18 March, thought leaders from the sustainability, construction and financial sectors lead discussions on driving change for a green recovery and building “resilient, net zero cities and communities”.

The aim of TRANSFORM is to unpack issues and examine how opportunities for change can be realised. The two days consisted of immersive content, breakout sessions and opportunities to engage and connect.

InfraBuild CEO Dak Patel participated in a Q&A session with GBCA’s CEO Davina Rooney on Day 1. Dak said the strength of InfraBuild was in providing sustainable steel solutions. He said the benefits of using InfraBuild product included full traceability and full compliance, which assured end users of the quality of the product.

Speaking about InfraBuild’s commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of the wider business through achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2030 (CN30) Dak said the business objectives must serve the greater needs of society.

Sustainability was a core value at the heart of the InfraBuild business, Dak explained. The Recycling division of the InfraBuild business was critical to the value chain of InfraBuild’s steelmaking operations and important to focus on, he said.

“This is where our mindset is, to continuously innovate and differentiate our steel for construction in a way that is more sustainable, more environmentally friendly”.

This innovation extends to research and development into new ways of making steel more sustainable – from  the way in which we manufacture and supply steel to the products we can offer the market.

“It’s about placing carbon neutrality at the centre of our investments in technology and renewable energy”, Dak explained.

In a short video presentation available on InfraBuild’s virtual booth during TRANSFORM, InfraBuild Construction Market Manager David Bell presented on the risks of using non-compliant steel. Walking the viewer through the recently updated Australian standards which cover structural and reinforcing steel, David outlined how using non-compliant product could potentially affect your project, your reputation, your clients, and the wider community.

Further sessions over the following two weeks will be available on demand, allowing access to over 30 hours of inspiration and insights.
