Doubling our BARMAT® capacity in Victoria

9 July 2021

To meet the increasing demand for BARMAT®, a new machine is about to be commissioned at the InfraBuild Noble Park site in Victoria.

Once up and running in August, the new machine will produce around 15-20 tonnes of bespoke, engineered bar mats a day. This second machine, which will join an existing BARMAT® machine at the Noble Park site, represents a doubling in current capacity.

“We are pleased to announce that a second BARMAT®  machine will be installed at InfraBuild Construction Solutions Noble Park and will be operational by 1 August 2021,” said InfraBuild Construction Solutions’ Southern Region manager, Tom Bishop.

“The installation of a second machine will enable us to provide enhanced service to our existing customers, whilst providing capacity to grow the BARMAT® product range through new customers and markets across Southern Region.”

BARMAT®, which can be fabricated from multiple bar sizes and bar spacing configurations, has revolutionised the prefabricated reinforcing market in Victoria since InfraBuild introduced the innovation in 2011. A highly adaptable prefab solution, BARMAT® has proven to provide time, cost, labour and material savings in a range of commercial, civil, and precast projects. Recent projects to have utilised BARMAT® range from commercial basements to the West Gate Tunnel.

“BARMAT® removes a lot of the manual handling like cutting out bars and significantly reduces safety risks for steel fixers who would normally have to constantly use cutting grinders, manual cutters, and wire tying on standard mesh,” Joe Fosio, BARMAT® Account Manager for InfraBuild’s Southern region said.

“This type of work can cause strains and cuts to their hands. By using BARMAT® labour costs are essentially reduced by 50%.”

InfraBuild is the exclusive supplier of BARMAT in Victoria.
