InfraBuild heads to Canberra

16 November 2023

The importance of recycling and steel to the Australian economy was on the agenda when representatives from InfraBuild and other companies attended a breakfast with the Federal Minister for Environment and Water Tanya Plibersek this week.

InfraBuild’s General Manager of Recycling Chris Morgan, National Business Development Manager Gordon Matthews and Manager Trade Development Matt Condon met with various Members of Parliament and their staffers to reinforce our commitment to building sustainable futures through steel at the National Waste & Recycling Industry Council Business Breakfast and Showcase in Canberra.

The event coincided with National Recycling Week which this year centred on the theme “what goes around comes around”.

Planet Ark research has found that in 2022 Australian households potentially sent nearly 2.5 million tonnes of unnecessary waste to landfill.

With 26 scrap metal recycling sites across Australia InfraBuild is playing an important role in addressing that, transforming scrap into a valuable resource.

Every year InfraBuild domestic recycling facilities recover about 1.4 million tonnes of recycled metals for our Electric Arc Furnaces (EAFs) in Sydney and Melbourne to manufacture the steel needed for residential and commercial construction, and nation-building infrastructure projects.

National Recycling Week runs until the 19th of November.
