From weighing scrap metal to leading national sales, Lily Collins’ career at InfraBuild and ARC is a story of growth, curiosity and opportunity.
Lily began working with us while studying at university in Townsville, taking a one day a week job on the weighbridge at the local scrap yard. What started as a temporary role became a career-changing interest in steel and recycling.
“You’d see someone bring in a washing machine or a car, and by the end of the process it was ready to recycle and ship off to make something new. It was so cool to see.”
After graduating, Lily joined the trading team, learning the business of buying and selling recycled metal, before moving to Brisbane as Qld Ferrous Trading Manager. She later took on Non-Ferrous Trading, covering copper, aluminium and stainless steel, before stepping into her current role as National Sales Manager for ARC’s LOKPOD® product.
Now, she is part of the team helping builders and concreters across Australia reinforce with confidence.
“What’s really amazing is knowing the reinforcing steel going into a residential slab in Victoria or Tasmania could have started as someone’s old BBQ in Queensland. That’s incredible.”
Lily’s story shows how far curiosity can take you, and how careers in steel can evolve in unexpected and rewarding ways.
“If you think you don’t tick every box but you’re interested, go for it. You’ll probably surprise yourself.”
