Welcoming the next generation of InfraBuild leaders

29 January 2026

InfraBuild has welcomed 15 graduates to the 2026 InfraBuild Graduate Program, marking the start of their careers across engineering, metallurgy, IT, finance, safety, operations, logistics and supply chain.

Interest in this year’s intake was strong, with 2,867 applications received nationally, reflecting growing demand to work with an Australian manufacturer supporting essential infrastructure across the country.

Starting with a clear view of the business

The graduates commenced with a national induction on Wednesday 21 January, led by InfraBuild CEO Francisco Irazusta alongside members of the Executive Leadership Team.

Graduates joined from Laverton, Rooty Hill and Mayfield, connecting both in person and online to gain a practical understanding of how InfraBuild operates as an integrated steel business, from recycling and manufacturing through to processing, logistics and reinforcing.

“Our graduates are joining InfraBuild at an important time for Australian manufacturing and infrastructure,” Francisco Irazusta said.

“They bring strong capability, fresh thinking and a genuine desire to contribute. This program is an investment in the future of our business and the leaders we are building for tomorrow.”

Learning from leaders and program alumni

The induction included insights from senior leaders and Graduate Program alumni, sharing practical advice on building capability, navigating complex environments and making the most of hands-on experience.

Guest speakers provided personal perspectives on career development and decision-making, reinforcing the importance of accountability, curiosity and learning on the job.

“As a graduate, you’re encouraged to ask questions and understand how the business really works,” said Vivian Zhang, Graduate Environment Engineer, who shared her experience with the new graduates.

“That early exposure makes a real difference.”

Sean Mannering, a Graduate Program alumnus and current sponsor, shared his own experience of progressing through the business and the value of building strong relationships across sites and functions.

Graduates also spent time connecting with members of the 2025 graduate group during their first week, catching up over lunch and joining site tours together. These informal conversations gave the new starters a chance to ask questions, hear first-hand experiences, and build early connections across the business.

Seeing InfraBuild operations up close

Site tours formed a key part of the day, giving graduates first-hand exposure to InfraBuild’s operational environments and the scale of work delivered across the business.

From manufacturing and processing through to logistics and supply chain, the tours helped connect theory with real-world outcomes, reinforcing InfraBuild’s focus on safety, operational discipline and continuous improvement.

Building capability for the long term

The InfraBuild Graduate Program is designed to provide structured development, hands-on experience and exposure to different parts of the business.

As this group of graduates begin their first rotations, they join a growing network of alumni contributing across InfraBuild’s operations nationwide and helping shape the future of Australian steelmaking and infrastructure.
