Seeing steel in action: Graduates connect learning to real projects
13 May 2026
For InfraBuild graduates, understanding how their work contributes to major projects is an important part of building capability and confidence.
Recently, graduates from Rooty Hill and Head Office came together for a development day focused on connection, learning and real-world impact, including a visit to the 55 Pitt Street project in Sydney.
The day combined career development workshops, leadership discussions and a site tour that brought InfraBuild’s role in Australia’s built environment to life.
The visit gave graduates the opportunity to see how the work they contribute to every day supports one of Sydney’s landmark developments.
From drawings and spreadsheets to reinforcement installed on site, the experience helped connect day-to-day work with the bigger picture.
“It was fantastic to see our products come to life at such a large scale and understand the real world impact of the work we do every day,” Allen Ma said.
Joshua Waldron shared: “Seeing how steel becomes the backbone of a structure at that scale gave me a deeper appreciation for my role in ensuring the highest quality steel leaves our plant.”
Bridging learning with real-world impact
The site visit highlighted the importance of connecting early career learning with practical outcomes.
Standing inside a project that will help redefine part of Sydney’s skyline gave graduates a new perspective on the role InfraBuild plays in supporting major construction and infrastructure across Australia.
For many, it was the moment where the technical work, meetings and planning all came together.
The experience also reinforced InfraBuild’s focus on improving construction productivity and supporting the delivery of major projects through Australian manufacturing capability.
Connecting with leaders
Throughout the day, graduates also spent time with InfraBuild leaders and executives, hearing about their career experiences and gaining practical advice about growth and development.
The opportunity to connect across teams and functions helped graduates better understand the breadth of opportunities available across the business.
Importantly, executive participation demonstrated a strong commitment to developing future talent and creating an environment where leaders are accessible and engaged.
Building future capability
Programs like this are designed to help graduates build technical capability, strengthen networks and develop a clearer understanding of how their work contributes to InfraBuild’s broader strategy and purpose.
By connecting graduates directly with projects, customers and leaders, InfraBuild is helping develop the next generation of people who will support Australia’s future infrastructure and manufacturing capability.
Our graduate program is open for applications in May 2026.
