Green Building Council of Australia visits InfraBuild Sydney Steel Mill

8 September 2025

InfraBuild hosted the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) at our Sydney Steel Mill, showcasing how we are delivering more sustainable outcomes through our circular manufacturing processes.

The tour provided GBCA representatives from across their membership, collaborations, operations, marketing and ratings teams with a first-hand look at how we take scrap steel and transform it into new steel products using our electric arc furnace (EAF) technology. Guests also learned how SENSE 600®, our high-strength, lower embodied carbon reinforcing steel, helps support their members’ sustainability targets.

The GBCA operates the Green Star rating system – Australia’s leading tool for measuring the sustainability of buildings across offices, retail centres, industrial warehouses, hospitals, residential developments and public facilities. Having InfraBuild products aligned to key Initiatives in the Green Star scheme provides significant value to projects working towards Green Star ratings.

“Visits like these are a fantastic opportunity to share how we are progressing on our own decarbonisation journey and how our products can support the broader industry to achieve theirs,” said David Bell, InfraBuild’s Manager Sustainability & Insight.

The visit highlighted InfraBuild’s role as a circular business and trusted partner in delivering lower embodied carbon steel solutions for the built environment.
