InfraBuild’s World Steel award win

30 January 2018

The World Steel Association recently announced that InfraBuild was recognised as a winner of the 2017 World Steel Safety and Health Recognition Awards.

It’s the third year in a row that InfraBuild (formerly LIBERTY OneSteel) has been recognised by the Association for excellence in safety and health.

InfraBuild’s commitment to those principles was reinforced last night at the GFG Alliance Safety Excellence Awards held at View by Sydney on Sydney Harbour. The Awards recognise those individuals, teams and businesses within GFG Alliance Australia that have made a significant contribution to the company’s commitment to Goal Zero.

That commitment binds the company to achieving world-class safety across its operations and products, with the aim of achieving zero work-related incidents, injuries or illnesses for people on GFG Alliance-managed sites.

A record 136 nominations were received from across GFG Alliance businesses this year, with a rigorous shortlisting process used to select 24 finalists. Those finalists were presented with awards for Merit, Highly Commended and Excellence (the company’s highest acknowledgement) across six categories relating to individual and team achievements, as well as workplace initiatives implemented.

GFG Alliance Executive Chairman Sanjeev Gupta said the Awards showcased many examples of excellence, attitudes and approaches that all GFG Alliance employees could learn from and implement in their places of work.

“I congratulate all those nominated and thank them for their passion and leadership – and for setting an example for us all,” he said.

The Awards cap a good year for InfraBuild after its recognition by the World Steel Association for its leadership in safety and health.

The World Steel Awards aim to identify, recognise and share world-best practice in the steel industry. Acknowledgment for the third consecutive year of InfraBuild’s endeavours in promoting safety and health constitutes proof that it is a world leader in safety in the steel industry.

The World Steel Association Award was presented to InfraBuild for its ‘Goal Zero – Every Body, Every Day’ campaign, which was implemented at the company’s InfraBuild Construction Solutions (formerly LIBERTY OneSteel Reinforcing) site at Acacia Ridge and Carole Park in Brisbane. The campaign has resulted in an increase in minor accident reporting and near-miss reporting at the site, indicating a greater level of safety ownership in the InfraBuild workplace.
